Owner of pub where 67 died in a fire to appeal one-year tax sentence

The Criminal Court sentenced the former owner of Santika Pub to one-year in prison for tax evasion, which he vowed to appeal.

Wisuk Setsawat, who owned the nightclub where 67 people died in a fire five years ago, was convicted of refusing to file returns and pay THB85 million for his business between 2003 and 2008.

Wisuk’s lawyer will appeal the court, and he was released on bail, Manager reported.

Wisuk was acquitted of all charges of negligence relating to the fire in October.
