Dead body dumped in canal turns up during cleanup of protest area

A dead body, stuffed in a bag and dumped in a canal, was found during cleanup of the area previously occupied by protesters near the Government House today.

Along with the corpse, authorities recovered a variety of weapons hidden in the Phadung Krung Kasem canal.

Over 100 bullets of different types, cartridges, bolt heads, ping pong bombs and a smoke bomb were recovered from the canal this afternoon in the area which had been occupied for months by anti-government protesters.

The biggest surprise, however, was the unidentified human packed into a black trash bag, which was stuffed with sand before being thrown into the water.

The canal cleanup was originally requested by locals who want to ensure safety for children, as they often swim in it.

The evidence has been collected for further investigation, MThai and Sanook reported.
