MRT fare hike delayed three months for sake of ‘Thai happiness’

A biannual fare increase for Bangkok’s subway system will be deferred for another three months.

Permanent transportation secretary Somchai Siriwatanachoke said the system’s operator agreed to postponing the increase of about two baht per trip to further the military junta’s “returning happiness to Thais” mission.

The Bangkok Metro Public Co. Ltd will revisit the scheduled fare increase at the beginning of October, according to state media.
