Smashed turtle rushed to Bangkok for emergency shell repair

Ayutthaya rescue volunteers will send an injured turtle for treatment Bangkok after it got hit by a car today in its hometown.

The young turtle, estimated to be about 10, was reportedly smashed by a speeding car after it attempted to cross the road in the Wang Noi district of Ayutthaya province. Arriving at the scene, the local volunteers described the turtle as “Tearing up … as if it was silently asking for help.”

The turtle was seriously injured with a long crack on its shell. As veterinarians in Ayutthaya lack the equipment to repair its broken shell, the turtle was to be transferred to the capital, Sanook reported.
