‘Ken F4’ former Taiwanese heartthrob meditates in Chiang Mai

Remember the glorious days of boy band “F4” and their leading roles in TV drama “Meteor Rain?”

At the turn of the century, images Taiwan’s F4 boys hung from the bedroom walls and were stuck to the notepads of many students. They could recite the Chinese lyrics perfectly as they’d listened to F4’s hits and drama dialogue. F4 was so big even 50-something housewives were charmed by the quartet of Jerry, Vic, Ken and Vanness.

Basically, they were like today’s EXO and 2PM but not Korean.

Ken Chu, now 35, now lives far from his superstar life as a cassette-tape king here in Thailand, at a temple in Chiang Mai.

Ken said he’s been in Thailand since last year, where he experienced a life-changing encounter with a home appliance.

In January, while he was about to vacuum the temple, the machine burst into flames as he plugged it in.

In a moment of divine awakening, Ken stepped forward to stomp out the fire, totally oblivious to the danger to his mortal frame.

Just, wow.

After the brush with the rock’n roll afterlife, Ken told Chinese media last week he’s been reliving the darkest thoughts and worst behavior of his younger, studly days to leave behind the conceited, arrogant “Ken F4” of his past, Khaosod reported.

And to think, his immortal soul owes it all to a shitty vacuum cleaner.

We’re glad to hear Ken has achieved self-realization, and so too would be his former fans who pulled those F4 posters from their lockers a decade ago.

For some reflection on your own mortality, gaze at the young sex symbol and middle-aged dude above, and the unbroken line of years between them.
