Cops open fire on panicked, totally high driver fleeing checkpoint

An under-the-influence attempt to evade police ended after a driver struck six cars and somehow landed his Honda City atop another car’s mirror.

The driver and his passenger – names mysteriously withheld – were arrested at 11:30 am this morning by Phra Khanong district police for running a checkpoint at Soi On Nut 17.

The cops reportedly gave chase to the vehicle on a motorbike after it blew through the checkpoint. Then they opted to veer in front of the car and fire two gunshots to threaten the driver.

Just where did they aim before firing their weapons? Fortunately reports indicate no one was harmed by stray bullets.

The terrified Honda City then lost control, hit six other vehicles and landed at an exciting angle atop an otherwise innocent Toyota Vios on Soi Pattanakarn 23. In a photo of the incident, the driver’s limp legs are visible laying in the road, adding to the admittedly comedic scene.

Police said both suspects admitted to fleeing the checkpoint because they were totally high.

They also were out on bail at the time, after recently being convicted of drug possession.

Police did not find drugs on them this time, according to Traffic Police 2.
