One of the safety measures promised after a 13-year-old girl was raped and murdered on a train last month will hit the rails next week.
On Aug. 1, overnight trains on four routes will provide special train compartments for women and children.
The women’s compartments will be available for second-class trains along the Bangkok-Chiangmai, Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani, Bangkok-Nong Khai and Bangkok-Su Ngai Kolok routes, according to an official announcement from the state railway.
Boys under 10 years old and 150-centimeters tall will also be allowed to accompany a female passenger in the women’s compartment, Post Today reported.
