Pattaya view spoiled by giant condo spire, locals complain

Gorgeous Pattaya. If not for it’s lovely setting, cuddling the waters of the gulf, it would only have its wholesome nightlife to brag about.

Alas, its idyllic setting, even more than its random acts of violence, have been a hot topic online since a new luxury condo decided to photobomb everyone’s nice view.

A photo showing the transformation of Pattaya’s ocean view from Phra Tamnak Hill from 1965 to the present posted in Facebook’s “We Love Pattaya Checkpoint” shows it being hidden by a massive erection.

Although it seems a little late to join the fight, the page calls for people to raise awareness and in an attempt to boycott the condo’s construction.

“Take back your condo. Bring back our viewpoint,” the caption says.

The new “Waterfront” condominium project is a project of luxury property developer Tulip Group, who owns five other condominium projects in Pattaya.

The company made an announcement on its website regarding the controversial project and insists it received approval from Pattaya officials and the Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy and Planning to build the condo on the spot.

In other words, this condo is not coming down.

The announcement said the project will be finished next year and is meant to be a beautiful accommodation for tourists and “to lift up Pattaya city to international standards.”
