Homework, na ka: Service fulfills student dreams, starting at only THB200

Lazy students have it easy in this era of social medias and interwebinars. However they still have to face tough choices, like spending their hard-earned parents’ money on a homework completion service or binge shopping.

An Instagram account which promises to complete any kind of homework, from watercolor paintings to English essays, for prices starting at only THB200 was exposed on Facebook yesterday by “Kru Tom,” a famous Thai language tutor.

Called “Homeworknaka,” the service belongs to an anonymous user who has since set the account to private.

The post gained a lot of response from Kru Tom’s followers, most of whom condemned the business practice for “destroying” the nation’s future by encouraging students to cheat and be generally corrupt. Call it exaggeration, but they do have a point.

The existence of these services provides a means for students to cheat their way through the education system, emerging into an adult world where the pressures to cheat aren’t any less. At the university level, the problem is believed to be even more severe, as students hire such firms to write entire theses and research papers for them.

Many pointed out that these “homework services” have existed since the beginning of (internet) time. But now with the help of social media, it’s just too easy to get away with.

In addition to “Homeworknaka,” a quick search turns up several more such services hiding in plain sight, such as “Let’s Do Homework” and “Homework-GGG.”
