League bans Buriram F.C. from playing in its own stadium

Current league leaders Buriram United can’t seem to stay out of trouble.

Following recent news that Buriram star Carmelo Gonzalez has been banned for the rest of the season, it seems the former treble winners have gotten themselves into hot water again – this time by their fans.

Due to inappropriate behavior from fans during a match, the Thai Premier League has banned the team from playing at their own stadium for one match, rather than just banning the fans. In addition, the Bangkok Post reported. The club has also been fined THB50,000.

Offenses include the use of foul language and a particular fan holding up a sign that says “11:14 gu mai koi gluua” (11 vs. 14, I’m not afraid!). Suggesting his team was playing against their opponents plus the referee and two linesmen.

The Thai Premier League deemed these actions as inappropriate and offensive to the opposing team and the football profession as a whole.

As a result, instead of playing their next home game against Osotspa Saraburi F.C. at the New I-Mobile Stadium, affectionately known as “The Thunder Castle,” both teams will be taking the field at Buriram Provincial Stadium on October 12.
