Taxi driver returns THB78,000 to Chinese tour guide

A kindly Bangkok taxi driver returned THB78,000 cash to his Chinese passenger yesterday after he left his wallet in the vehicle.

Nares Luachakote, 41, reportedly drove Chinese siblings Fo Chuan Fong, 41, and Mei Fang, 36, from Suvarnabhumi Airport to their accommodation in Bang Khen district on Wednesday night, whereupon Fo left his wallet containing Chinese and Thai banknotes worth about THB78,000.

After finding the wallet, Nares proceeded to contact the 91FM police radio station to publicize his discovery as Mei also reached out for the lost money using the same station.

They met yesterday, and Nares returned the money to the siblings, who work as tour guides in Thailand for tourists from mainland China. Nares was rewarded THB5,000 for his honesty, Bangkok Post reported.
