So far, so good for Thai football at Incheon

The Asian Games officially started today, but Thai football so far has swept its opponents aside.

On Thursday Thailand defeated Timor-Leste in a thumping 3-0 win at Incheon Football Stadium. That brought Thailand’s total goal tally to five, six less than Indonesia, with zero goals conceded.

That was a steady follow on Monday’s win at Goyang Stadium, where goals from Narubodin Weerawatnodom and Adisak Kraisorn helped Thailand to a two-nil win.

It’s been an even split for women’s footballers. The Thai women’s team demolished the Maldives 10-0 on Wednesday but lost 5-0 to South Korea in the opening match on Sunday.

Drawn into Group E along with Indonesia, Maldives, and Timor-Leste, the men’s team has a perfect tally of six points which means it’s already secured qualification to the next round with a game in hand.

Thai football’s next match will be against fellow ASEAN member Indonesia on Monday at the Ansan Wa~ Stadium. Indonesia sit atop Group E with six points but leads on goal difference. Any result will see both teams compete in the following round.
