There are no ghosts in theaters, SF Cinema reassures

SF Cinema promptly responded to rumors the country’s top theaters such as Major Cineplex and SF Cinema routinely reserve the good seats for “theater guardian ghosts” at every showtime for superstitious reasons.

The discussion was sparked on Pantip after one user speculated why there are always four-to-six seats in rows C through F booked next to each other, but when he entered the theaters, every time, those seats would be empty.

Another superstitious practice we didn’t know about?

“It’s belief of cinema owners. I asked them,” user “Whalephant” claimed. “The occupied seats are for the guardian ghosts. They’re not for staff. Staff can watch movies any time. There are many available seats for staff. I really did ask them.”

SF Cinema responded yesterday.

“We would like to clear up any confusion regarding the occupied seats that are not on sale,” the official SF Customer Service comments, “Those seats are backups in case customers book broken seats or spill water on their seats. For those who suspect that the seats are left for the guardian ghosts, customers can be ensured there are no such thing (as ghosts) in our theaters.”
