Hundreds of iPhone6s seized from smugglers

Applemaniacs aren’t gonna wait.

Customs officials have seized about 300 iPhone 6 phones being ferried across the border during the past four days worth about THB21 million.

With the release of the much-coveted iPhone 6 in Thailand and parts of Asia delayed until November, smugglers have snuck the devices into shops throughout the Thai capital marked up to prices only true zealots will pay.

Somchai Sujjapongse of the Customs Department said he ordered to intercede aggressively to block their entry from neighboring countries.

The phones have been seen on sale for upward of THB70,000 in local shopping malls, almost twice as much as those available in Hong Kong and Singapore, according to Bangkok Post.

The seized phones will likely be auctioned off, Somchai said.
