A Phuket resident was charged with raping a Russian woman on Saturday after offering her a ride on his motorbike back to her hotel.
Phuket police arrested Somdech Srisai, 33, at his home for raping a 29-year-old Russian tourist he picked up while she was looking for a ride back to her hotel early in the morning.
According to the victim, she was visiting friends at their hotel room on Karon Beach until 4am on Saturday. As she was looking for transportation to return to her hotel room on Patong Beach, a Thai man stopped his motorbike and offered her a ride. The victim agreed, at which point Somdech instead took her back to his home and raped her twice.
The victim added after he was finished, she begged him to take her back to the hotel where her boyfriend was waiting. The victim and her boyfriend then went to the police.
Somdech, whom police claim he made a full confession, said he couldn’t control himself. He said the victim was drunk, so he took her back to his apartment to sober up, but her appearance was too inviting. He decided to rape her and took her back to the hotel thinking she would not go to the police, Thairath reported.
