With amazing scissor-kick by Adisak, Thailand progresses to Asian Games semifinals

Step aside Lionel Messi because there is a new king in town and his name is Adisak Kraisorn. Actually that might be going a bit far, but Adisak’s goal last week against China in the Asian Games round of 16 was one that even Messi would have been proud of.

With the game evenly poised at 0-0 just after half time, Charyl Chappuis brilliantly backheeled the ball in midair into the penalty area toward Adisak who contorted his body to execute an amazing scissor-kick that sent the ball sailing past China’s goalie into the bottom corner.

Thailand went on to beat China 2-0 after Adisak scored his second of the game in the 76th minute.

Thailand then beat Jordan 2-0 in the quarterfinals on Sunday and they will play South Korea — who knocked out Japan in the quarterfinals – today.

The winner will play North Korea or Iraq in the final.
