Japanese super-dad will return for his babies

Two months after he fled Thailand following a raid on his condo-cum-baby storage facility, a Japanese man is coming back to get his babies.

Shigeta Mitsutoki, the 24-year-old scion of a telecom billionaire, will return as soon as next week to answer police questions and reclaim the 16 babies he fathered using paid surrogates, his Thai lawyer Kong Suriyamonthon said yesterday.

Police have been frustrated by Mitsutoki’s refusal to appear in person, while the prolific patriarch said he was too busy taking care of important business to deal with his bundle of babies.

Earlier this month Mitsutoki’s lawyer explained his client’s baby daddy impulse was driven by urgent need to have 20 children to pass his fortune onto. Other accounts have placed his paternal ambitions upward of 1,000 babies for various purposes such as voting for him in an election or simply old-fashioned seed-spreading.

For Mitsutoki to leave the kingdom with his litter he’ll have to convince a family court to allow it. Police have said the only chance for that happening is if he comes in person to give his own explanation.
