No coup against coupmakers, new army chief vows

The new army chief has sworn there will be no coup to displace his predecessor who seized power in a coup.

Gen. Udomdej Sitabutr said yesterday there would be no repeat coup “now or in the future,” according to The Nation.

“The commanders have a common understanding and everyone is moving in the same direction,” he said.

There’s no reason to believe Udomdej would have cause to plot against his successor and patron, Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha, despite the kingdom’s regular tradition of military takeovers after frequently repeated, strident denials.
