Man ejected from AirAsia flight offers his side of story, still looks like jerk

AirAsia is standing by the decision of its cabin crew to eject a passenger during boarding Sunday who wouldn’t take no for an answer.

Despite claims by a passenger he was unfairly singled out for bringing a heavy carry-on item onto the flight, something most passengers have done at least once, the airline said its terms of service reserve the right to refuse service to unruly or abusive passengers.

Footage posted yesterday showed the passengers of the Nakhon Sri Thammarat-Bangkok flight chanting “Get out! Get out!” while the man hurled indignant abuse at the flight crew.

They’d asked him to pay THB900 to check his overweight bag. Instead he threw it out the cabin door onto the tarmac.

Making a stand on principle is commendable, but less so when it’s for not getting away with something expressly forbidden and being a jerkhole about it. Not to mention inconveniencing and delaying scores of other passengers.

Unwilling to let it rest, the passenger posted his own video footage of the incident early this morning showing his POV face-off against the flight attendants.

(The video is no longer available since publication.)

In the footage the cabin crew strain to smile and be polite while pointing out the various rules he agreed to when buying a ticket with the airline. In return he shakes his finger vigorously at an ever growing number of people pleading with him to exit the plane.
This goes on for 11 minutes.

The airline said it put him on the next flight to Bangkok without additional charge.
