A young British woman died at a beauty clinic in the capital’s Huai Khwang district last night while undergoing a second treatment.
The 24-year-old Briton reportedly died while receiving anaesthesia for hip surgery last night at SP Cosmetic Surgery Clinic, which has operated for 10 years under a valid license.
The clinic offers the usual range of laser treatments, liposuction and body augmentation services.
Her doctor, 51-year-old Sompop Saensiri, was detained for questioning while police inspect whether the clinic had proper emergency equipment and followed health standards.
Authorities speculate the deceased woman ate a meal prior to receiving anaesthetic, which caused complications resulting in her death. Her body has been submitted for forensic examination.
The doctor could face a charge of unintentionally causing death. The British Embassy has been informed of her death, Khaosod reported.
