A demon prince will war against the gods as demons, monkeys and deities assemble to wage war at the Thailand Cultural Center next week.
Going through the motions of traditional khon, the Battle of Indrajit from the national epic of the Ramakien will tell the story of the Demon King’s son Ranachit who ascends to “Indrajit” after defeating Indra.
He’s called on to join the war between Rama and Tosakan after most of his family members were killed and Rama laid siege to Lanka. Indrajit empowered his deadly weapon, the “Nagabas” with venom from the Naga King to defeat Rama’s army and kill his half-brother Phra Lak.
The schedule is online, and tickets cost from THB400 to 1,500. Student tickets are available for only THB100, but only for undergraduates 25 and under.
