Marriage rights activists stage rally at City Hall

A small procession of same-sex couples staged a “marriage parade” today to call attention to a campaign for marriage equality in Thailand.

Held in the style of a traditional khan mark wedding procession, the brief march to city hall from the Giant Swing was joined by 10 couples, as hundreds of supporters cheered them on.

“I want everybody to able to get married to a person they love. We all deserve to have the same right,” said Noey who joined the parade with her partner, Oz.

The event was organized by the Foundation for SOGI Rights and Justice and BMA organized the marriage parade and talk to raise awareness of equal marriage act in Thailand today.

Proposed legislation would recognize limited civil unions for same-sex couples, but activists have said the law would actually legally enshrine discrimination.
