That rending sound heard throughout the nation today was the breaking of millions of hearts.
Charyl Chappuis, the 22-year-old Thai-Swiss football player and national heartthrob, shattered dreams with one kiss captured on film at a Swiss airport where he’d traveled to celebrate with his family after securing victory for Thailand in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2014 on Saturday.
“But that’s my husband!” lamented “Prim” in a comment expressing her agony at seeing the photo, a comment upvoted to the top for carrying the sentiments of women everywhere.
In the photo, Chappuis macks down on girlfriend Melanie Manuel when they were reunited this afternoon. The photo has received more than 37,000 likes within two hours.
The couple has been dating for five years and with Chappuis’ football career taking off, Manuel plans moving to Thailand for their relationship, according to Blick.
More bad news to those who hoped the long-distance would be a problem for the couple.
In comments to the media, Chappuis also revealed the dream team he’d like to play for.
“My dream is to play for Barcelona, but I know that is not possible. What I dream for is Bundesliga; I like the German league so my dream is to play there,” he told Channel News Asia.
For now, Chappuis’ European dreams are on hold, as he recently signed onto Suphanburi FC for the 2015 season. So we’ll still be seeing him around.
