The ‘Nonthaburi 1’ Bridge, one of 10 which Bangkok hopes to erect over the Chao Phraya River in coming years, unofficially opened today to help alleviate traffic.
The 4.3 kilometer-long bridge was intended to ease traffic congestion caused by incoming vehicles along Rattanathibet, Ngamwongwan, and Tiwanon roads.
The bridge starts from Nonthaburi Road 1 and the Nonthaburi bypass on the river’s eastern side and ends at Ratchapruek Road, state media reported.
‘Nonthaburi 1’ is a part of the long-term project to build 10 more bridges to span the Chao Phraya during the next two decades.
