A viral video showing a gym where naked girls mingle while members grope them has led police to take legal action against its owner.
Police said they’ll charge Suraphan Surawatthanaphong, the 57-year-old owner of Ebi Sauna and Fitness, with “arranging obscene acts for sexual pleasure,” Royal Thai Police spokesman Lt. Gen. Prawut Thawornsiri said yesterday.
The gym is located in the capital’s Wang Thonglang district, as helpfully pointed out yesterday by former massage parlor king turned politician Chuwit Kamolvisit.
If found guilty, the owner could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of THB20,000. The women in the clip will be charged with committing lewd acts, according to Bangkok Post.
All the frisky, overweight men seen snogging the girls and squeezing their boobs instead of getting a much-needed workout would also be summoned for questioning, he said.
Suraphan told reporters after meeting with the police the club shown in the clip was his but denied responsibility for the naked women.
He said the footage was shot on Jan. 5 when the club was rented out by a client, and he was away at the time. It was the unnamed customer, not members of his staff, who had arranged for the naked women seen in the clip.
“If I was present and had learned of what went on at that session, I would not have allowed it!” he said.
However Chuwit Kamolvisit said yesterday such fitness facilities where sex workers cavort with customers are a burgeoning trend and can commonly be found off Bangkok’s Raminthra Expressway, in the Town in Town Hotel area.
According to Chuwit, customers pay THB2,000 for entrance fees and an additional THB5,000 to THB10,000 for sex, The Nation reported.
