After year of the rape, media still glamorizes it

Remember all the soul-searching over the glamorization of rape after 2014’s harrowing incidents of sexual violence outraged the public?

One only has to look as far as this promo for an evening television drama to see little has changed.

“In this scene Porn is sleeping, and her stepdad sneaks into her room and looks at her with lustful eyes. He could not help himself but put his hand on her thigh and tries to take advantage of her. This scene is intended to be erotic … oops I mean emotional!” reads the Thairath promo for Mae Leurk Kert Dai.

“She kicks and she struggles. Her skirt is lifted up. The stepdad won’t give up. He gets on top of her and rips her shirt off, revealing her white flesh! The white flesh excites him even more! She fights back, and he’s mad. He strangles her until she cries.”

“Don’t miss the episode tonight on Channel 8!”
