Government ‘moral assemblies’ to open throughout nation

The government will build “national moral assemblies” in four provinces as a model to be expanded nationwide.

Part of a “moral province” initiative by “The Moral Center,” state media reports the moral assemblies will help transform Thailand into a moral country.

Morality has been worsening in Thailand “for a long time” and getting worse, according to Moral Center board member Phondet Pinprathip.

He said politicians, civil servants, business people, academic institutions and the media have been very naughty and set poor examples for children.

Therefore his center has embarked on this urgent campaign to restore virtue to the kingdom, one province at a time. As that’s unlikely to be enough, he added: Parents and teachers and everyone are going to have to be good role models.

The first four such morality incubators will open in Phichit, Phatthalung, Buriram and Ratchaburi provinces.

That won’t be enough, he added: Parents and teachers and everyone are going to have to be good role models.
