Serial rapist-murderer on the loose in Bangkok outskirts

Police released a composite sketch of a man they said has assaulted at least 10 women in the Bangkok outskirts during the past four years, raping 10 and killing two.

The Crime Suppression Division has warned residents in Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram and Nakhon Pathom provinces to watch out for the suspect who allegedly raped his 10th victim, a 70-year-old woman, at her home in Nakhon Pathom yesterday morning.

The rapist, who has not been named, reportedly drugged the victim’s two dogs before breaking into her home and assaulting her early Sunday morning.

The victim told her attacker she’d tell him where her money was after he threatened her with a knife, but he didn’t seem interested and instead sexually assaulted her.

He then went through her stuff and escaped with THB5,000 cash and a gold Buddha image.

Police believe it is the same man responsible for similar attacks on nine other woman during the past five years: two times in 2010, four in 2012, three in 2013. Two victims in Nakhon Pathom and Samut Songkram were found dead.

Six of the women were over 70 years old while the others were between 39 and 61. Most lived alone in a secluded place, either on a farm or by the river, according to police.

Authorities expect more leads in identifying the suspect later this week, Morning News reported.
