Thai dance master unleashes ‘The Gentlemen’

Transgressive master of Thai dance Pichet Klunchun will unleash his latest work on the public this Friday.

The Gentlemen” will remix traditional Thai dance with club music and wild strobe lights, with choreography is in both classical and contemporary styles.

Conceptually the work intends to investigate male-female roles in contemporary society and their power relationships. The performance is inspired by a quote from Chanon Yodhong’s “The Gentlemen-in-Waiting During the Reign of King Rama VI): “When women were not welcomed in the royal court, who replaced the nang nai (ladies-in-waiting)?”

Tickets are THB600, THB400 for people under 27 and THB300 for students. Reservations can be made online.
