Prayuth’s floating market to open near Government House

A new floating market dreamed up by Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha will open near the Government House in the administrative area of the Phra Nakhon district.

For four weekends the Padung Krung Kasem Canal will be transformed into a floating market within easy reach of tourists and downtown residents, according to city hall spokesman Tridao Apaiwong.

Expect to soak in the “Thainess” traditional games, boat races, food and crafts at the market, which will open in time for Valentine’s Day. The first four-day offering will run from 10am to 5pm on Feb. 12 through 15. It will open on Saturdays and Sundays for the three following weekends.

The market will be organized on the canal at the intersection of Ratchadamnoen Nok and Krung Kasem roads in Phra Nakhon

Boat tours organized by the city will be available for visitors twice daily at 4pm and 5pm for up to 40 passengers. Wonderfully enough, no roads will be closed during the event, but expect traffic, especially on Feb. 12 and 13.
