MRT slowdown: Expect to wait twice as long during ‘non-peak’ hours

Notice longer queues and waits for your subterranean rocket ride yesterday?

Without any advance warning, the operator of the MRT subway system yesterday tested a new system doubling the time between trains during non-peak hours.

Although the system is currently running as before, a representative of the Bangkok Metro Plc said the afternoon test of the new schedule is a sign of things to come.

When will it go into effect? He didn’t say, but the plan is to increase the time between trains from 3.5 minutes to 7 minutes between 9am and 4pm, according to Thai PBS.
