Fuel leak blamed for gutting luxury train’s locomotive

A luxury train service burst into flames Sunday morning in Kanchanaburi province.

The Eastern Oriental Express, which runs between Bangkok to Singapore, was loaded with tourists and leaving the Kanchanaburi station at about 8:30am when a fire spread through its locomotive.

No injuries were reported, according to state media, and the fire all but gutted the front locomotive, which has been in service for three decades.

A provincial police superintendent said he believed the fire started by a fuel leak.
