A speeding motorist struck two women, killing one instantly, while they were using a crosswalk in the capital’s Khlong San district last night.
According to witnesses, the driver of a Honda Civic was speeding to get through a changing green light as Yuyee Saetang, 64, started crossing the road when it struck and killed her.
The car also hit another 18-year-old woman, whose identity was not disclosed. She was seriously injured and admitted to Taksin Hospital.
Driver Maehadee Poomphaksee, 24, told police he was driving home and did not see the pedestrians. Maehadee has been charged with reckless driving resulting in death, Morning News reported.
