Starving for blood, Red Cross appeals to public

The Thai Red Cross Society is pleading with the public to open their hearts and their veins.

Hospitals throughout the kingdom are facing a dangerous shortage as the society said it can only provide 25 percent of the needed supply, less than half of its usual capacity.

That’s well below the “emergency level” and is forcing some hospitals to delay surgeries and other procedures.

To donate blood visit the National Blood Center on Henri Dunant Road or regional centers in the provinces. For more information call 02-256-4300.
