Got ‘Thainess?’ Show off skills and win trip to Thailand

Non-Thais demonstrating a mastery of such “Thainess” as Thai dancing, Thai cooking, Thai speaking or Muay Thai could win a trip to … Thailand.

Tourism officials are inviting the world at large to film themselves doing something very Thai very well and submit the clip to its “One and Only” contest.

Three winners will be selected to travel to Thailand and compete in a series of unspecified “Thainess missions.”

“During their journey here, their lives will be filmed and posted online for public voting,” the announcement reads.

The winner of these missions will take home the grand prize. The grand prize isn’t specified either, but in the video it appears the grand prize may be Muay Thai legend Sombat “Buakaw” Banchamek. That would be pretty cool.

Participants can select any of the five activities: dancing, cooking, speaking, flower weaving or Muay Thai-ing. They can apply in a team of two, with winners to be announced June 1 before spending the month of July in Thailand.

Foreigners can apply now while the contest will open to Thais starting in May. It was unspecified whether the foreigners would be competing against the Thais in “Thainess.”
