New, imaginative warnings on the way for cigarettes

If you’ve told me I’m gonna die painfully of mouth-rot cancer, you’ve told me a thousand times.

Concerned the public has become inured to dire health warnings printed on on cigarettes, health officials said they’ll update them with new attention-grabbing threats.

As if the images of split-open human brains oozing black X-Files tar didn’t do that already.

The Public Health Ministry said their impact has been blunted after being in rotation for three years, so it will roll out 10 new approved messages, according to The Nation.

The new warnings will include:

  • “Cigarette Smoke Contains Ratsbane!”

  • “Smoking Causes Liver Cancer!”

  • “140 Thais Die of Cigarettes Each Day”

  • “Children Will Take Their Parents’ Smoking Habit”
