Construction for BTS Green Line to start

Construction for the BTS Green Line, which will extend from the Mo Chit terminal, may start as early as next month, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand revealed today.

Bidding for the project will be held in April, and construction could get underway immediately, according to the authority’s interim head Theeraphan Tachasirinugune.

The Green Line will pass through Lat Phrao intersection, Major Ratchayothin, Saphan Mai and end at the Khu Khot police station in Pathum Thani, for a total of 16 stations.

Theerapan added the organization is also working on the MRT Orange Line which will stretch east to Min Buri with stops at 29 stations. The plan is waiting for approval of Transport Minister with construction expected to commence early next year.

The Orange Line starts from the Taling Chan station passing through Thailand Cultural Centre, Siriraj Hospital, Sanam Luang, Pratunam, Ratchaprarop Airport Link, Rama IX Road,  Ramkhamhaeng Road and terminating in Min Buri.
