Taxi drivers fined for rejecting passengers at MBK Center (again)

MBK Center, also known as the second worst place to hail a cab behind Central World, was targeted by transportation agents and the military yesterday looking for the taxi drivers who say “no.”

Officers were separated into two teams, one observing taxi drivers who reject people in front of the mall while a second team waited at a checkpoint to fine the offenders THB1,000.

Phuwadech Kamming, an officer from the Department of Land Transport, said he saw people rejected about 70 percent of the time they tried to hail a taxi in front of the mall between 5pm and 6pm yesterday.

Most taxi drivers denied rejecting anyone and complained the fine was too costly, according to JS100.
