Hold your pee, BTS toilets still only a ‘suggestion’

Bangkok commuters have a certain kind of savvy. It’s invariably hot, so we know it’s important to stay hydrated while remaining vigilant about the status of our bladders, because there certainly aren’t any toilets.

This means, when outside the home or office, maintaining a mental map of targets of toilet opportunity , whether it’s skywalking into Mercury Ville from BTS Chit Lom, trudging through that depressing basement mall at MRT Sukhumvit or savoring a luxurious dump down from BTS Chong Nonsi in the Mahanakhon Cube’s marble-appointed basement toilet/temple. (Seriously, check it out and thank us later.)

Bangkok’s City Council president dared to upend all this with a simple suggestion during a meeting with BTS big kahuna Arnat Aprapirom, president of Bangkok Mass Transit System.

In their widely reported meeting (okay two sentences in The Nation), Kriengsak Lohachala,  heretofore known as President of Bold Ideas suggested the following:

Free water fountains and toilets at all BTS stations.

Imagine that.
