SF Cinema insists it will show Fast & Furious 7 on release day Wednesday despite a court order essentially banning the film from Thai cinemas.
SF Cinema says it will make good on its contract with Universal Pictures’ international distributor to show the film unless it says otherwise, according to Morning News.
Sahamongkol Film sued Universal International Pictures along with parent studio Universal Pictures and Tony Jaa for THB1.6 billion compensation and 7.5 percent interest, as it says he broke his contract to take the Hollywood role. Last week the court issued an injunction blocking the film’s release in Thailand at the request of Sahamongkol Film.
Suwat Apaiyasak, a lawyer for Sahamongkol Film International, said theaters that don’t obey the ruling and show the movie must take responsibility along with the three defendants.
Tony Jaa is reportedly in the United States on the film’s promotional tour.
Meanwhile, Major Cineplex announced it has removed the movie from its schedule but has yet to refund advance ticket sales.
