‘Hormones’ actors act like asses in Japan, Grammy apologizes

Grammy has apologized for the behavior of its actors from popular teen series “Hormones” on Saturday after they danced on a public train in Japan while on vacation.

A chorus of condemnation — from Thais not Japanese — came after teen star Surasak “Punpun” Udomsilp posted a snippet of several actors from the series, prompting GMM Tai Hub to issue an apology and vow to take action against them.

In the clip, actors Toptap Napat, James Theeradon and Tua Setthawut are seen dancing wildly amid a scene of stony silence on the Japanese train in front of Japanese commuters who look really, really unimpressed by the performance.

“You don’t look cool at all,” user Annwanar commented. “You look like you don’t have manners and consideration. A bunch of hicks. What would Japanese think of Thais?”

Actress Punpun, who underwent heavy media image rehab following the crystal meth incident a couple years back, promptly replied, “Why so serious? Be reasonable.”

And just like that Punpun’s two sentences instantly became a viral hashtag on across social media.

The video has since been removed.

Meanwhile, Koki Aki, the Japanese expat famous for complaining about Suvarnabhumi taxis and lecturing Thais about manners, weighed in with his agreement.

“Japan is a nation that gives importance to manners more than Thailand,” he wrote. “I’m afraid Japanese people will view Thai people negatively. The Japanese don’t even use their cell phones on the train. As a Japanese person who loves Thai people, this makes me feel sad.”
