Today began the Thai new year celebration, when we escape the midsummer burn for a few days with the help of an arsenal of water-fueled weaponry and a relaxed social order.

It’s a wet, wild time that puts the city in high energy as a nice run of holidays spool off the calendar into our idle hands, at least those who didn’t break from the city and hit the road to visit family and loved ones.

Either way the battle for Bangkok got off to an early start over the weekend with what seemed over 9,000 parties, and here’s some images from across the social media multiverse of what went down.
