Anupong faces charges of murder and attempted murder of a police officer, stealing an officer’s weapon and carrying a gun in a public place.

For Anupong Ruengsawat, revenge was a dish best served hot and messy.

First the taxi driver ran over a traffic policeman and stole his gun, then traveled back to his apartment-hideout in northwestern Bangkok where he used that weapon to kill his landlords before going on the run – all this on a Friday.

Anupong’s rampage ended when he turned himself in to police at the Taling Chan Police Station yesterday, authorities said. He offered no resistance as police took him into custody, explaining he surrendered out of fear of being killed while the manhunt for him was underway.

Running over police is generally not looked upon favorably by other cops, at least without the protection of a significant family name and bank account.

The middle-aged couple killed in Nonthaburi’s Bang Yai district was identified as Somchai Tanchanta, 52, and Sangwa Tanchanta, 50, according to Khaosod English. Anupong reportedly told police he hit the cop to steal his gun to shoot the couple because he was butthurt over their complaints about his noisy guitar playing.

Police Sen.Sgt. Chakri Palasin survived the hit and run with a head injury, broken leg and shoulder.
