Death takes a holiday after crematorium painted pink

A monk of Pobsuk Temple in Korat proudly admitted that there have been less funerals after the temple painted the crematorium pink for blessing.

Phra Witthaya Wiwatthano, a monk who’s resided at the temple for 11 years, said the number of funerals has declined from four or five per month to only one since the crematorium was painted pink.

Phra Witthaya said he was inspired to have the crematorium painted in November to cheer up the relatives of the dead and reduce fears among villagers of the scary crematorium.

“Relatives [of the deceased] who attend funerals and cremations won’t be afflicted with more grief than what they already suffer,” Phra Witthaya said.

He said some villagers believe pink crematorium has brought good luck and helped them live longer, Khaosod English and Sanook reported.
