Koh Tao is the No. 1 island in Asia, if anything from TripAdvisor is to be trusted. Which it probably shouldn’t be.
One can’t be blamed for reading such a claim with disbelief, at least until understanding the source, but according to TripAdvisor’s aggregation of reviews it is also the fifth most-popular island on the planet.
Not to say the inhumanly savage murders of its guests, mysterious disappearances and frequent questionably investigated “suicides” should automatically disqualify the island.
No, we’ll leave that to the general stench of rottenness in its affairs that became apparent in the weeks that followed.
Phuket, Samui, Lanta and Phangan also populated the Asian top 10.
In the world, TripAdvisor placed the island came behind Providenciales (UK territory), Maui (United States) Roatan (Honduras) and Santorini (Greece).
