The CP Group, which owns everything of value in Thailand, will build its own fleet of electric cars through its CP ALL subsidiary to haul the frozen food and other stuff it makes and sells at the 7-Eleven stores it owns.
The conglomerate has made a deal with Cho Thavee Dollasien, a local transport vehicle manufacturer, to build its logistics e-fleets to transport all those Smokey Bites and steamed buns from its central warehouse to the 8,300 7-Elevens nationwide.
The company expects the electric cars to help the company save costs, reduce pollution and win some positive press with its “7 Go Green” campaign.
CP All expects their electric vehicles to be the first ones produced in Thailand for commercial purposes.
Designing and developing the vehicles will take about a year with the final product ready some time in 2016, Matichon reported.
