Trust Bud to pull your pork

COCONUTS HOT SPOT — Serving up huge portions of American BBQ classics, Bud’s is the latest operation to figure out that four wheels offers more benefits than committing yourself to a long-term lease.  And like any smart newcomer to Bangkok, they go for simplicity, sticking primarily to Burgers (start at THB180), Spare Ribs (THB280 / 500 grams) and Pulled-Pork Sandwiches (THB180).

The burger is perfectly fine, but it is not the reason to hunt this truck down. The ribs come close; they’re huge and tender with the meat falling off the bone, but they are still not mission-worthy. The real reason to sniff this place out is the pulled pork, which is easily the best in town and would rival any kind of Big Momma’s BBQ in Tennessee or elsewhere.

You’ve got a couple sauce options including their “No Ordinary,” which is ironically quite ordinary, and the  “Bangkok Blast,” which packs more punch.  The sides dishes, unfortunately, are not all that.

Find them on Soi Suan Phlu during the week and at Craft Bar on Saturday evenings.
