A Thai woman and Swiss man were removed from their Bangkok-bound flight this morning after the woman wisecracked that their water bottles might explode.
Panarat Noppakhun, 38, and companion Eisinger Jurn Walter, 60, caused a two-hour delay for Air Asia flight FD3002 from Phuket this morning after she made comments interpreted as a bomb threat by flight attendants.
“If water can cause an explosion, there are two more bottles in my luggage,” the cabin crew recounts Panarat saying.
The statement forced the airline to follow safety protocol by evacuating all passengers and deploying airport authorities and a bomb squad which had to scan every item of luggage.
Of course, no bomb was found.
Panarat claimed she made the comment because the airport security staff earlier were rude to her. It wasn’t clear what pissed Panarat off, but maybe it involved her desire to pass through security with a water bottle?
The couple were kicked off the flight and sent to Phuket police station, Thairath reported.
