Soldier to be tried after ‘Anarchy’ punk lashes out at injustice

Before Nattapol Kemngen headed to the Criminal Court on Sunday to spray some old-school anarchist symbols on its sign, he first built his fury listening to his band’s song “Hell of the Poor.”

Nattapol, a 22-year-old production designer for Kantana Group and musician, was seized yesterday on the set of TV program in Nonthaburi in the same outfit he wore during Sunday’s act of vandalism.

Nattapol, whose band “Drunk All Day” thrashes out the angsty and angry vibes, told police he was angry about the inequality in society after there seemed no accountability for a soldier shot and killed his bandmate Yuthana Sripradit earlier this year.

His protest by petty vandalism may have had the intended result. A metropolitan police commander announced yesterday Lt. Cpl. Watjaraphong Jurat will be brought for trial in a military court.

Nattapol said only the poor seem to go to jail because they don’t have money. Anarchy to him means equality.

Nattapol will be charged for damaging public property and vandalism and could face up to five years in prison and THB15,000 for both charges, Thairath reported.
