Ride the electric bus free all month

Bangkok started trial runs for new energy-saving electric buses today, and they are free for commuters through the end of June.

A new fleet of rechargeable buses hit the streets today along three routes as a pilot program to one day replace all buses operating in the capital, which officials estimate will annually reduce consumption of diesel fuel by 120 million liters and carbon emissions by 320,000 tons.

They will be running along with regular buses on their routes, so if you spot a new e-bus, you can hop on for free.

The buses will be on the streets from 9am to 3pm on the following days, according to MThai:

Bus No. 511 – Ratchadamnoen-Sukhumvit – June 2-5, 8-9

Bus No. 141 – Siam – Mahachai Muangmai – June 10-11, 15-18

Bus No. 63 – Chatuchak – Victory Monument – June 19, 22, 23, 26, 29, 30
